The USA has some of the most interesting and unique locations from anywhere in the world. Some are fun to visit for a short time, others take much longer, and you may even come across a few locations where you would want to live permanently.

California
Everywhere from Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Redwood Forest, and Big Sur to Malibu, Palm Springs, Napa, and Lake Tahoe. North Cal or So-Cal, beauty is everywhere to be seen. LA and San Francisco are both interesting stops and vastly different. California has something for everyone. That is why it is the most visited state in the country.
Maine
Beautiful coastal towns, Portland, Bar Harbor, Kennebunkport, and Prouts Neck. Portland has the most breweries per square mile anywhere in the country. A visit to LL Bean headquarters in Freeport is a must. Arcadia National Park is as well. Maine is beautiful and inviting. Two or three days is enough to see almost all of it. (unless you want to hike every trail)
My family and I enjoyed the beach there and hiked the Beehive.
