Physical Wellness (Inflammation)
Why what we put in our body matters! Controlling the things we can, to avoid illness and disease.
Types of Inflammation:
There are two types of inflammation, acute and chronic.
Acute is short-term inflammation. This is triggered by the immune system in response to illness, injury, or stress.
Chronic is long-term. This type of inflammation increases your risk of acquiring many long-term health issues including heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
There are many causes of both types of inflammation, but also many things you can do to combat it. The good news is you can reduce or eliminate most inflammation by simply eating a healthier diet and leading a healthy lifestyle. Eating whole foods that are high in fiber and increasing your intake of omega-3-rich foods from nuts and seeds (or fish if you are a pescatarian) are shown to control unhealthy blood fat responses. Another way to reduce inflammation is to lower your unhealthy blood sugar intake. Eating complex carbohydrates and high fiber foods including, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables while eliminating processed foods and sodas that are high in sugar, is also very effective.
