The Mayo Clinic recommends the following minimum daily intake of water:

Women — 11.5 cups, or 92 ounces

Men — 15.5 cups, or 124 ounces

The Why Behind The What:

Water is important for every cell in the body, and for it to function properly.

Water flushes harmful toxins from our bodies and promotes good kidney function.

Our digestive system functions better with proper hydration and drinking the recommended amount of water prevents constipation.

The joints and muscles in our bodies need water to stay lubricated, and that beautiful liquid also helps to regulate our body temperature.

In addition to its internal importance, water also supports healthier and younger-looking skin.

In short, there is nothing more necessary than water.

The Risks:

All of us can become dehydrated, but infants, children, the elderly, and those outdoors or exercising more strenuously are all at a greater risk.
