Harrison Ruffin Tyler. The 10th President of the U.S. grandson.

John Tyler was the tenth President of the United States. He was born on March 29th, 1790.

His grandson, Harrison Ruffin Tyler is still alive.

Yes, his grandson. Not a great-grandson, not a great-great-grandson. His actual grandson.

Harrison is alive in Virginia at 93 years old!

How?

President John Tyler and his wife Julia (nee Gardiner) had their son Lyon when the President was 63 years of age. The President passed away about eight years later at the age of 71. Julia was approximately 30 years younger than her husband, John.

Lyon Gardiner Tyler was born on August 24th, 1853, and fathered Harrison at the age of 75. He passed away six and a half short years later after Harrison was born.

Harrison Ruffin Tyler was born to Lyon Gardiner Tyler and Susan Ruffin on November 9th, 1928.

Harrison’s mother, Susan, was 35 years younger than Lyon.

Like father, like son.
